ANNUAL SJI OLD BOYS vs YOUNG BOYS 2007
The annual SJI rugby old boys game against the current boys was held on 28 December 2007. In its fifth year, it has become an essential fixture in the SJI rugby calendar. What started off as a social game for old boys, has evolved into being a highly competitive game where the ‘egoistic’ old boys are driven to their wits end by the younger boys in a battle for bragging rights.
This year, we had a great turn out with about 40 old boys turning up for the game. With the old boys ranging from 18 years to 25, the younger boys had a tough challenge ahead. The game time was modified into 4 quarters of 20 minutes and had the older boys winning by a landslide.
However nothing should be taken away from the younger boys who put up a great fight and for throwing in some real hard tackles which left some of the alumni floored. As the young boys will be having their rugby tournament in February, this game served as a good tune up for them whilst, at the same time, bridging the gap between old and new.
We wish the younger boys all the best in their competition and look forward to playing another ruby game with them again.
