The programme which will include other events to reconnect the SJI Old Boys to our Alma Mater is the initiative of the SJIOBA Exco chaired by former national footballer, Leong Kok Fann (Class of 1974). He has roped in a group of old boys to work with the Exco on the various commemorative events.
Overseeing the planning of the homecoming dinners is a group led by private investor, Gideon Mak (Class of 1971). Gideon said, “Many of our old boys have had little contact with our Alma Mater after they left school. The dinners will provide an excellent opportunity for them to be updated of the development of the school as well as reconnect with their teachers and peers. We are targeting a total of 4,000 old boys to attend the dinners.” He added, “We have put together a simple yet interesting programme for the dinners. There will be some surprises too. In addition, we will leave it to the different cohorts to add in elements relevant to their school experience to the programme. For example, a soccer theme could be adopted for the dinner catering to the cohorts in the 70s as those were golden years for SJI soccer.” Gideon is inviting old boys who are interested in helping out in organizing dinners for specific cohorts to contact him at makkt@pacific.net.sg.
More than 20,000 men have passed through the portals of SJI since her founding as one of the first Lasallian schools in the region in 1852.
